At times a manager will ask for access to a team members mailbox. We perform this via Powershell.

  1. Open Windows Powershell as administrator.
  2. Issue the following commands (this only needs to be done once)
    1. Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned
    2. Install-Module PowershellGet -Force
    3. Update-Module PowershellGet
    4. InstallModule -Name ExchangeOnlineManagement
  3. Connect to Exchange Online: Connect-ExchangeOnline -UserPrincipalName <yourEmail>
  4. Issue commands to grant access: Add-MailboxPermission -Identity user@safeharbors.com -User manager@safeharbors.com -AccessRights FullAccess -AutoMapping $false
  5. Since we're using the -AutoMapping $falseflag, the manager will not see the mailbox in their Outlook application. Instead they will be able to access the shared mailbox using OWA.
    1. OWA URL: https://outlook.office365.com/mail/
    2. Click profile image, and select open another mailbox
    3. Enter the team members email address.
